The London Haul

Updated: May 26

By the time I was old enough to remember, Nanaji had mostly stopped travelling abroad. But once — I think in 2000 or 2001 — he had a work trip to London.

He asked all four of us girls what we wanted. Mom told us not to be annoying — he was elderly and busy and we shouldn't bother him — so we said nothing.

But he figured us out. He sat me down, made me list out everything I wanted — beaded bracelets from Claire's, hair clips, glittery hairbands — and wrote it all down.

When he came back, he had everything from that list. For all of us. - Aaina
